OOC: Pafp. Semi-Advanced. Male Needed. This is a Hunger Games roleplay, sort of the same plot except my character is pretty much doing the things Peeta does, and your character does the things that Katniss does, but with a few little plot twists along the way.
IC:
Alexandra Demetria Martinez walked down the hallway, blue eyes wide. Today was the day. She walked into the room that she shared with her two older sisters, Merideth and Lilianne. She got dressed in a nice, clean light blue dress with fancy lacing that Merideth had bought her a while ago. The seventeen year old looked into the mirror, and brushed out her naturally curly hair. Her hair was a light brown colour. She frowned. Finally, she believed she looked presentable.

matthew james morris opened his hazelnut eyes, staring at the ceiling with a blank expression. one word was going through his mind - the reaping. he heard a soft whimpering noise and, out of the corner of his eyes, saw his brother cradled under the covers. a soft smile on his lips, matt reachedo ver and gently uncovered jace. "hey, it'll be fine," he reassured, "you're only twelve; your name is in there once." jace nodded, a frown on his face, and slowly got up. matt put on a cris white shirt and black pants. after giving his mother a swift hug, he took jace's hand and walked out the door, tawny hair ruffled in the cool breeze.

Before she was allowed to go to the reaping, Alex had to complete her chores. She decorated a freshly-baked chocolate cake, and then when she was finished, she walked back into her room. Her eyes softened as she spotted Merideth. "Meri, I really don't want to go to the reaping," she mumbled quietly. Merideth was like a mother to Alex. Lillianne was very selfish and wanted nothing to do with Alex, but Alex loved Meri. After about a half an hour of getting ready, the three girls walked out of the door and to the reaping.

matt approached the small white table that a peacekeeper sat behind, the rumble of the crowd ringing in his ears. he felt jace squeeze his hand tightly as they approached the peacekeeper, and Matt looked down at him. "what's wrong?" the small boy stayed silent, but pointed at the needle the peacekeeper was holding. "it's ok, just stay calm." he held out his hand, allowing the needle to draw some of his blood. then, jace went, only wincing a little. "see? that wasn't so bad." matt flashed his little brother a smile, then joined the crowd of boys. his heart was pounding as the anthem began to play ; although jace's name was only in the large glass bowl once, matt's was in there twenty-four times. it was natural to be nervous,

After having her blood drawn, Alexandra gathered with other girls her age. She tried to smile softly, though she was truly freaking out. Soon, it became time when the district's representitive, Katrina Wilde, was about to pick the tributes. Kat had big, curly lavender-coloured hair, and purple contacts. Her outfit was utterly ridiculous. "Ladies First," Kat said in a giggly, cheery tone.
"Alexandra Demetria Martinez, come on up!"

matt watched with a pang of sadness as the girl took the stage. the crowd clapped, although it sounded more out of pity than anything else. "any volunteers?" the question was asked, but there were no answers. town square was dead silent. "ok, it's time for the boys!" kat reached her hand into the large glass bowl, fishing around for a moment. matt pursed his lips and shuffled his feet, a bead of sweat dripping down his tan forehead. "jace morris!" the young boy, who was a few feet ahead of matt, stepped out into the open. his older brother was awe-struck ; he couldn't think, couldn't move, couldn't talk. suddenly, from the back of the onlookers, matt barely heard his mother in a harsh whisper, "no!" that snapped him back into reality. "wait!" he shoved a couple people out of the way, running over to jace. some peacekeepers tried to stop him, guns pointed, but he just ducked away from their grasp. he ran up to jace and yelled, "i volunteer!" dead silence. as matt looked around, brown eyes shining with stubbornness, he added, "i volunteer as tribute." kat let out an excited clap and said, "a volunteer! come on up here, boy. what's your name?" he slowly walked up to the stage, gaze n the ground, and mumbled, "m-matt morris." kat beamed. "ah, family, eh? well, let's give a hand for our second district twelve volunteer!" she began clapping enthusiastically, but nobody joined her. "well, then, that's all. we will take our tributes to the back room. meeting dismissed!"

Alexandra stared at Matt, her jaw dropped. "I'm so sorry," she mumbled quietly, though she doubted he could hear her. Peacekeepers walked up on stage, and began shoving her. She tripped over one Peacekeeper's shoelace, and landed on her leg. She groaned, closing her eyes tightly. Her leg stung with pain. "Move, b*tch!" a Peacekeeper shouted at her, gently kicking her in the side. Alex sighed softly, and stood.

matt did happen to hear alex ; he was too numb to reply. too ... unsure. unsure if this was even real. he was silently lead to a small room and sat down in a chair. "your family will come in soon," a peacekeeper with a gruff voice said, then shut the splintery wooden door.
about half an hour later, the door swung open and jace dashed over to matt. the young boy squeezed him tightly, tears wet on his cheeks. "promise me you'll come home," he whimpered. all matt could do was shakily reply, "i promise." jace sniffed, nodding, and slowly sat in the floor. matt then turned to his mother, who was softly sobbing. she flashed her eldest son a soft smile and said, "i'm so proud of you. your father ... he would've been too." she bent down for a hug, and matt stiffly returned it. tears began to form in the edges of his brown eyes, but he blinked them back. "jenna will bring you some food from her hunt," he said, then looked down at the ground. "t-thanks for coming." his mom just nodded, kissed him on the forehead, and took a step back. then the peacekeepers came in and lead them out.
after ten minutes, another person ducked their head inside the door. a girl with a tiny smile on her face said softly, "you idiot." jenna slowly walked over and grasped matt in a hug. he smiled a bit. "hey, jenna." she pulled her head away gently and looked at him with watery blue eyes, expression now serious. "we could do it, you know." Matt frowned. "you're not talking about running away again, are you?" jenna just stared at the wall. "think about it! you wouldn't have to go into the arena, you—" Matt interrupted her with a quiet chuckle. "jenna, i'm going to the hunger games no matter what now. we can't run away now ; not yet. i will return." jenna was choking up. "oh, matt." she embraced him yet again. "promise me you'll bring my mother and have a bit of your hunt each day," matt whispered. he was replied with a vigorous nod. just then, a peacekeeper opened the door. "time's up," he said, crossing his arms. jenna stood with a sigh and began walking away, but quickly ran back and gave matt a small peck n the cheek. with a wave, she left matt to blush hardly in the empty room.

Alexandra's mother didn't even bother to visit her. Neither did Lillianne. And that made Alex cry, and as salty tears glided down her cheeks, Merideth and her father opened the door. She sniffed, and wiped her cheeks dry. "Hey." Merideth mumbled softly, her cheeks were red and her eyes looked swollen up. So did her father's. Alex rushed up to both of them, and hugged them, as tightly as she could. She sobbed into her father's shoulder. "Tell Mother and Lilli that I love them, and that I'll miss them," she mumbled, her heart aching. Her stomach felt like it was turning, and she felt like she wanted to throw up. "Mom and Lilli couldn't make it to see you, but they said they love you and that they're sorry that they couldn't make it," Meri lied.
The three of them continued speaking and crying for about fifteen minutes, when a Peacekeeper flung open the door and dragged Alex out. Alex was lead onto the train.

matt was quickly herded out by a group of peacekeepers. he stared downwards the whole time, not saying a word as he passed his family and friends. he boarded the strange capitol train, not even bothering to gape at it's strange features. the teen boy sat down at one of the cushiony seats, gazing out the window silently, with wide brown eyes. he had no idea what was ahead, no idea if he would even live more than a few days.

Alexandra sat down, opposite of Matt. She stared at him for a few moments, chills creeping down her spinal cord, and salty tears gliding down her now-pale cheeks. Her fists were balled up, and she cried softly, a barely audible sob escaping her lips. Her brown-eyed gaze traveled back to her feet, and she watched her still navy-blue shoes, crying.

"Would it be wrong, if I asked you to kill me first in the arena?" she asked softly, and stared at her feet.

Matt narrowed his eye. "Yes, that would be wrong" he answered simply, then turned away.
